Pupils in year 6 at Burlington Junior School in Bridlington challenged themselves to change the lyrics to a song and give it a mathematical theme. It tested their rhyming and sentence writing skills as well as the ability to fit words to a rhythm. Including vocabulary like “mathematician” and “quadrilateral” in their chorus and verses took a great deal of ingenuity.

Practising and recording our version took a considerable amount of teamwork and resilience. Following this, several of the children helped as sound engineers and were also involved in mixing the tracks together with the images. Our first taste of the music industry?
